Do I need a doctor's referral for physiotherapy treatment?
No, physiotherapists are primary providers. We actively communicate (where appropriate) with our patients GPs, specialists and other health providers and encourage all our patients to keep their own GP informed. Certain insurers sometimes do require you to see a GP before authorising physiotherapy treatment.
Do I need a doctors referral to lodge an ACC injury claim?
Physiotherapists are primary providers and able to lodge an ACC claim for most injuries.
Do I need to have a sports injury?
No we treat all people from children through to the elderly. We treat all sorts of issues from sports injurys, to chronic pain to womens health issues to post operative - no issue is beyond our experience.
Does ACC cover all costs of treatment?
No, you are now required to contribute towards physiotherapy treatment costs, this is called a surcharge. (please check with staff to confirm what these costs will be).
Is the cost of physiotherapy covered by ACC?
Only if the condition was caused by an accident (in most cases this is specific to a particular incident).
How many treatments does ACC allow?
Due to Physio Performance being a certified clinic there is no set number of treatments per condition.
How long does a treatment session last?
Generally the initial treatment lasts between 30-45 minutes and follow up sessions are between 20-30 minutes.
What happens at my first physiotherapy treatment?
A registration form is required to be filled out prior to initial assessment and treatment. The physiotherapist will ask questions about your condition, assess your body appearance and movements and treat you for your condition.
